Sr. Job Captain

Employer: ORB Architecture, LLC.
Position Location: Phoenix, AZ

Job Duties

  1. Work on various multifamily and senior living projects in different stages of the process from design and construction development and drawings based on schematic sketches.
  2. Assist the Project Manager with coordinating project schedules including the delegation of tasks, workload estimates, resources and deliverables for multiple projects teams.
  3. Prepare, review, and check all construction documents to ensure they adhere to company expectations, drawing standards, and project requirements.
  4. Coordinate the submission of documents to the building department and support construction administration using RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, among others.
  5. Serve as the liaison to facilitate the client needs, concerns and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Work directly with clients and consulting engineers, attend client meetings and utilize various online platforms for project coordination

Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or closely related. Employer will accept foreign degree equivalent if in the same field.

Experience Requirements:

  • 24 months of experience in job offered, Project Manager, Architectural Visualization Designer, or closely related.

Special skills requirements:

  1. Ability to prepare, review and revise construction documents and develop the necessary technical solutions using Autodesk Revit Software.
  2. Experience creating 3D architectural renderings using LuminOn software, Autodesk 3dsMax, SketchUp, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and SketchUp.
  3. Communicate with building officials during the permit and construction stages of the project. This includes project design, production and the coordination of city submittals.
  4. Ability to coordinate different aspects of the project such as staffing, budget, schedule and scopes.
  5. Experience proposing, discussing, and coordinating with consultants and subcontractors to determine structural engineering details such as wood, concrete and masonry construction systems, and propose specific custom-building elements that may result in the creation of exhibits and schemes.
  6. Ability to research and consolidate housing designs according to multifamily developer requirements and for mixed-use (commercial-residential) buildings.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of the accessibility code and IBC code requirements for multifamily and senior living buildings.

Job Duties

  1. Collaborate with the Sr. Job Captain and Project Manager to develop construction documents for multifamily and residential projects using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software.
  2. Research project programming issues, codes, conditions, and other issues relevant to conceptual and schematic design of multifamily and residential projects. This consist of ensuring that projects meet the local, state and national codes such as the International Building Code (IBC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) code requirements.
  3. Coordinate documents with internal team members and outside consultants including lighting, HVAC, structural, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical design.
  4. Assist in the submission of documents to the building department and support the construction administration by processing RFIs, RFPs, show drawings, and submittals.

  2. Utilize Sketchup, Photoshop, and Illustrator to present, develop renderings, video and 2D images of residential and commercial projects.
  3. Experience with the conceptual and schematic design of residential and commercial projects.
  4. Assist Project Manager in developing project documents for bidding as well as ensuring project schedules are maintained.
  5. Utilize knowledge of wood construction, specifically in multi-family and/or senior living environments to assemble construction documents.
